Despite the majority of the population in the 21st century having a mobile phone with them everywhere they go, there are, quite surprisingly, many individuals around the world who refuse to give in and purchase a mobile phone. While this may seem odd to most people, those who refuse to follow the status quo have many good reasons for not becoming a part of the group of people who need a new mobile phone every couple of years and who become slaves to their mobile plan.
If you love your mobile device and cannot imagine a day without it, you are probably wondering why in the world anyone would not want a mobile phone. Below are just some of the arguments made against the use of mobile phones by those who have held their ground and not given in, yet.
Becoming Dependent, and Even Forgetful
Those who use mobile phones inevitably begin to forget things like important phone numbers, because they have come to rely upon their devices to store all of that information for them. In the past, you had to remember a phone number or keep it written down somewhere safe, but nowadays, you do not need any of that, thanks to mobile phones that can store hundreds of contacts and all of their information, including phone numbers, addresses, birthdays, etc.
Could it be that this generation of young people who rely upon their mobile phones to get them all the information they need in an instant will be a generation of older people who cannot remember any details and suffer from memory issues as a result? Ask anyone who is against owning a mobile phone and the answer will probably be a resounding “yes!”
They Are Unnecessary Expenses
Mobile phones, especially the newest smartphones, are very expensive, and the coverage that goes
along with them is not inexpensive either. Many people who have to live
paycheck to paycheck simply cannot afford the
latest phone or the most comprehensive mobile phone plan. Therefore, for those who cannot afford another expense tack
ed onto their already tight budget each month, a mobile phone is not possible.
However, there are still those individuals who avoid purchasing a mobile phone and figuring out which service plan would work best for them and their budgets, despite having the money to afford it all. They simply do not want the a
dded expense and they are perfectly happy living their lives without a mobile phone.
Mobile Phones Distract People from One Another
While many people can claim social media and mobile phones have brought people together, allowing them to communicate easily and efficiently no matter where they are in the world or how far apart they are from one another, there are still those people who feel mobile devices, including phones, are major distractions. These individuals hate walking into a café or shopping mall and finding everyone focused only on his or her mobile phone rather than interacting with others around them, and so they prefer to keep the lines of communication open by not owning any mobile phones.
