It will be useful in the long run if you often remove the batteries from the laptop when it is not in use, especially for long time periods. When travelling or busy we usually tend to let our very dear machines sit in laptop bags without worrying about their health. Removing the battery during these times will make it last longer.
- Reviving Laptop Batteries
If your laptop battery is completely dead and hardly ever works then here is a simple trick, only involving a freezing and a zip lock plastic bag, to try to revive it rather then purchase a completely new one.
Any plastic bag will be fine which can be sealed thus a zip lock is recommended. Simply place your battery in the bag, close it to block transfer of air and place your battery in the freezer for around 14 hours. After the time has elapsed remove the battery from the freezer and allow it to reach room temperature while it is still in the bag. Next remove the battery from the bag and wipe it dry using a towel and insert back inside the laptop. Now allow the battery to fully charge and plug out the charger as soon as it’s full, do not over charge. Next use your laptop until the battery is nearly dead and replace the charger. This charging and discharging step must be repeated a couple of times for best results. If not as good as new, your battery will hopefully be revived to a good extent, saving you a lot of money.
