So, you’ve always wanted to visit Crete, but you’re not a big fan of huge crowds and all the noises of city life. While Crete is quite a popular tourist area, there are still a lot of places that you can visit that aren’t exactly well-known. You can also visit in certain times of the year when there are fewer tourists around. You want to experience Crete without it being watered down with travelers. I’m going to give you some information on the best places to visit in Crete that won’t be filled with a hoard of tourists.
If you’re coming into Crete from a busy and largely populated city, chances are that you’re tired of waiting in traffic jams, sifting through the mass amounts of people and hearing all of the loud noises that ring through the city. Crete has a relatively small population in comparison to a lot of US cities, but there are a fair amount of tourists. Let’s avoid those tourists by finding a place that’s away from the crowds, full of open areas to enjoy the scenery and best of all full of peace and quiet!
Myrtos beach
Myrtos beach is located just outside of the village of Myrtos. This pebbled beach is filled with some beautiful scenery that ranges from rocky cliffs to clear waters. You won’t see a building in sight, as it’s completely natural. This beach is considered to be one of the best places for anyone who is looking to stray away from the crowds.
Achlia Beach
Take a visit to Achlia Beach and get the most out of your holiday. This beach is found in western Crete. It’s around 15 km east of Ierapetra and it’s out of the eye of the mass tourist crowds. The water is beautiful and clear. The sands are golden and full of beauties to take in. Although it’s not completely secluded, you’ll still find this beach to be much less populated than others in the area.
Zakros Beach
You’ll love the serenity that you’ll find at Zakros Beach. This particular beach features a beautiful cove with clean waters that stretch as far as the eye can see. This is a completely natural beach without any buildings or businesses to serve as eye sores. You won’t find a large crowd here, but you will find much beauty and peace!
Karavostasi
One of the most secluded areas in Crete is known as Karavostasi. This gorgeous area is a haven for peace and quiet. It’s near the town of Aghios Nikolaos and is surrounded with a large amount of olive trees. You won’t see many tourists in sight, but you may come across a few of the friendly locals.
Crete can be the perfect getaway for anyone who is tired of the hustle and bustle of city life. Take a holiday to Crete and experience a relaxation that will do wonders for your mind and your body.
